Alright, so another pop-up shop under my belt and a great start to the week.  The pop-up was a success for me.  I made twice as much in sales as I did at my first pop-up shop.  Some of the positive differences that really helped with that I believe is that Beadology, where the pop-up shop was at helped to advertise about the pop-up shop prior to the event.  The staff there also directed all customers that came into the store during the weekend to stop by and check out what I had.  They were true partners in making it work for both me and them.  Definitely a great start to what I hope to be a long partnership with them.  I will be teaching a beginner woodworking class there on October 14th and having another pop-up shop there sometime late November/early December.

Speaking of events, I have added a new section to my website, a calendar that will have all upcoming classes and pop-up shops or festivals I will be attending.  You can find that calendar here if you want to stay up to date on all that’s going on as we get into a busy holiday season.

Lastly tonight I had the honor of hosting a group of University of Iowa Students from the Wesley Center for Table Tuesday night at my shop.  I shared with them a bit of my background, we had pizza, and then we got to work making sawdust.  Most of them had little to no experience with tools, and they all left with a mostly finished project and smiles on their faces.  I really enjoy watching that spark hit as someone learns how to make something with there hands for the first time.  I will be having them back again for sure!

Biggest wins for the day: Getting a new group of makers started.

Opportunities for improvement: Finding more ways to teach.
