Wowzer, what a way to end the week and the month! Absolutely fantastic day. One of those days that you found me grinning like a goof from ear to ear the whole entire day. After getting kiddos off to school and daycare it was time for me to head to the shop. Met a rather creepy new “shop pet”, aka large giant ass spider. Check out my Instagram Stories here to see that beast! Anyway, once I had my failed attempt at trying to shoe the creature out of the shop I got to work on carving a bowl for my upcoming pop-up shop on September 15th and 16th at Beadology in downtown Iowa City. I am super excited about this project. For starters I haven’t carved a bowl in what seems like forever, and I really enjoy doing them. Secondly, I am going to be experimenting with a new way to finish these bowls, that in my head seems totally awesome. I will report back here next week on the actual level of awesomeness! And as if that wasn’t enough super-duper fun in my day, I also had the privilege to interview 3 amazing maker moms.
Truly and sincerely I am having a blast with these maker mom interviews. I love hearing the story of how they got started as a maker and what motivates them to be committed to the hustle of being a Mom and a maker and whatever else they may have going on in their life. I think today has me finally deciding to go ahead and do a podcast. I’m not sure yet when it will be ready to launch, I will work on getting a committed date soon. This will be a new adventure for sure, but I believe it will be a fun adventure and one that most certainly will lead to building a bigger community of maker moms.
Biggest wins for the day: Shop time and working with amazing maker moms.
Opportunities for improvement: None! Today completely kicked ass!!!
