Big day, good day today. Got the kiddos off to their respective schools without a hitch and on-time, so that’s always a good start to the day. I had the awesome opportunity to interview Kay Casey with Kay at Home from Canada right away in the morning as well. I have been following Kay’s Instagram account for some time now. She shares a love of the organic form and addition of color just like I do. She is also a fellow queer Mom. All of this along with her personality makes her feel like a fast friend. So, I was super excited when she agreed to let me interview her for my Maker Mom series. It was also during the interview that I continued to find a strong conviction to turn my Maker Mom interview series into a podcast. I feel like, hey, I’m a maker mom and have been searching for podcasts that represent me, so why not just go ahead and make one! Would love to hear your thoughts on it though.
Also managed to get in the shop and make 7 balanced wine bottle holders. Six of them will be for the up coming pop-up shop in September and the 7th will serve as my sample piece to display at Beadology for the beginner woodworking class I will be teaching there in October. I am also working on this idea of putting together my first of what I hope will be many beginner woodworking project DIY kits. I’m just trying to decide how much to include in the kit and how much to have people purchase on their own. Along with the kits I will create YouTube videos that go with it. That way a person doesn’t have to buy my kit to do the project, but if they choose to do so they get a step by step video tutorial on it. I’m excited about this idea and can’t wait to get dialed in on it.
It was a day full of making, creative work and family, wonderful!
Biggest wins for the day: Proving my hustle strong and getting plenty of productive work done!
Opportunities for improvement: Keeping focused and not biting off more then I can chew too soon!
