Yay!  This Mama and her better half made it through our Son’s first two days of Kindergarten and our daughters first week at a new daycare.  It would be a massive understatement to say I had been apprehensive about this week, for a at least a solid 3 weeks leading up to it.  However, as previously predicted, once we made it first through Monday, my daughter’s first day, and then Thursday, my son’s first day, my nerves drastically calmed down.  Both kiddos are loving their new schools and I am loving having them closer to home which means they spend less time away from home.  We even had time to make a couple batches of slime tonight before settling down for pizza and family pizza night.  I know these changes will mean extra family time at least for a while until activities get started, and I am definitely okay with more time together.

While the kiddos were at school I did manage to get a couple of hours in the shop and made the time pretty fricken productive if I do say so myself.  I am in preparation mode for the new pop-up shop that is coming up on September 15th and 16th at Beadology in downtown Iowa City. So I got two wine and appetizer trays carved and planned a piece of hackberry wood from 2.5 inches thick down to 7/8th inches thick in preparation to make some balanced wine bottle holders, which is a new product for me.  I have now amassed a rather large pile of wood shavings and sawdust that is just aching for a fun #whatsawdust post on Instagram.  Though after that I do need to find a use for the pile.  I asked the neighborhood urban farm around my shop if they could use it, and sadly they cannot.  So, if anyone in the local Iowa City area could use about a wheel barrow full of wood shavings and sawdust, please, please, please hit me up!!

Biggest wins for the day: Extra family time, including time to make slime!

Opportunities for improvement: Today is a win and a win only!
