So today started with my daughter (youngest little) getting up way before 6 AM, which definitely makes getting ready for the day much more difficult. Never the less, I succeeded. Got the kids dressed, “first breakfast” packed to be consumed on the trip to daycare. Managed a second day in a row getting to daycare without any major fits or tantrums. Then off to day 2 of my 3-day training. During the day I watched my to-do list for tonight grow from 4 items to 11 items…typical of my to-do lists! I am really trying to get better at time management since that is the biggest way I self-sabotage my efforts. When I went to New Orleans at the start of June for a marketing accelerator class, I learned of a practice called bullet journaling. Basic concept is you start with you month, then plan out your week and then your day. Cross off what you get done in a day, and anything that doesn’t get crossed off gets moved straight away to the next day. I have not managed to get this down consistently yet, but I’m working toward it.
Got some news on the way home that a set of stools I recently completed for a client of an interior designer I work with will be delivered tomorrow. This is both good and nerve-racking news. I am always nervous whether a client is going to like the final product. Will let you know the output of that delivery tomorrow. Then tonight, we realized that we have a kiddo starting kindergarten soon and have yet to do school shopping. This weekend is “tax free” weekend in Iowa, I say “Oh Hell No”, that is worse than black Friday for me. I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to shopping and highly allergic to large crowds, so the two mixed together is pretty much my worst nightmare. So, what does that mean? It means round everyone up after dinner and head to the mall. Luckily, we made it in and out in about an hour and a half, not too bad!!
Now the kiddos are in bed and it’s time for me to rock the to-do list until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore!
Wins for the day: Planning out the rest of the week’s to-do’s in my bullet journal, AND avoiding “Tax Free” weekend at the stores!
Fails for the day: Letting self-doubt take a bit of a foot hold in the back of my mind.
