Episode 216 – Aspen Golann

To furniture maker and artist Aspen Golann it’s more than just a tenon – seemingly simple details have a vast backstory and implications within a larger social narrative that Golann can’t help but see with every joint she makes. She is also an instructor and educator, and is currently traveling and launching The Chairmaker’s Toolbox, an equity initiative to get the tools and knowledge of Windsor chairmaking into the hands, minds and hearts of those who have been historically excluded from the practice. She launched the initiative with the support as recipient of the 2020 John D. Mincek Foundation Fellowship, is a member of the Board at A Workshop of Our Own and continues to be a welcoming voice for all at the woodworking table.

You can follow Aspen’s work on her Website, Instagram and Chairmakers Toolbox.
